Brick, I agree with you, but it just seemed like a nice gesture to wish Brian a Happy Birthday. One of the few original voices in rock music over the last 50 years. Not that it matters, but I like Mars too.

Joe Henderson? I said that? I have no memory of anything I said in the LA Weekly, since I was out of my mind on heroin, LSD, Sominex and various testosterone supplements the entire time, which is why I quit suddenly and checked into a way hip clinic to detox with wanton starlets. However, I do remember seeing Henry with Black Flag and they shredded.

I don’t know. Rollins was using a pseudonym based on a former Miles sideman way back when he was the gnarly dude on Damaged. The one time I saw the original Rollins Band they were one of the most kickass things I’ve ever seen, and I’d guess they might not have been with someone else fronting. Meaning he was a great bandleader. Just like Miles! A little. Didn’t you claim to be influenced by Joe Henderson? I’m sure you thought of this.

Then again, the one time I saw him with Black Flag I thought they were kind of weak. It was a free 4th of July concert in a park, weirdly enough. You might expect some musical fireworks, but no.
