That bit about misbehaving punks reminds me….after our set that night, the next band was waiting to go on but couldn’t find their drummer. Someone said he was outside, cuffed in the back of a patrol car. Underage drinking. Somehow I talked the cop into letting him go so he could play. Afterward I was out front and saw the drummer again, in the backseat of the same cop car. Caught him smoking a joint. Somehow I talked the same deputy into letting him go again. Either I was a helluva talker, or that was one forgiving cop. Like I said, those were different times.
